Laura Jacobsen

Dr. Laura Jacobsen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics specializing in the care of children and adolescents with diabetes and endocrine disorders. She completed her college and medical degrees at the University of Florida and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for Pediatric Residency training before returning to UF to complete her Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship. Dr. Jacobsen is also a clinical and translational researcher in the UF Diabetes Institute studying type 1 diabetes. Dr. Jacobsen works as a physician scientist on prevention and intervention clinical trials in type 1 diabetes, translational projects studying the immunology of type 1 diabetes, and with technology to improve diabetes care. She has presented her work locally and nationally. She is a member of the American Diabetes Association, International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes, Pediatric Endocrine Society, and American Academy of Pediatrics. She serves on committees in several international type 1 diabetes consortiums, including Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet and The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY) study.
