Islets of Langerhans

Islets of Langerhans

The regions of the pancreas that contain groups of cells that make hormones important for the regulation of glucose metabolism. Alpha cells make glucagon, beta cells make insulin and amylin, delta cells make somatostatin, PP cells make pancreatic polypeptide and epsilon cells make ghrelin.
